PDM takes a unique approach to compliance: While PDM has a written corporate compliance plan and is HIPAA compliant, we firmly believe that a corporate compliance plan isn’t something that you have… it’s something that you do. Corporate compliance means developing a way of doing business on a daily basis that follows legal, ethical and common sense guidelines that show respect for the physician, the patient and the payer’s needs. It means doing it right, even when no one is looking over your shoulder.

PDM’s professional medical billing is dedicated to the principle of compliance. For example, PDM utilizes Certified Professional Coders (CPCs) accredited by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Since PDM is dedicated to anesthesia, pain medicine and critical care, the coders are adept at catching inadvertent coding errors such as the use of outdated codes or inadequate documentation. When in doubt, the coders contact the physician for clarification or assistance.
PDM coders stay abreast of the latest Medicare and CPT guidelines through regular attendance at relevant workshops. Additionally, the coders have biweekly Compliance and Coding meetings with PDM’s administration to discuss upcoming coding changes, trends and any recurring difficulties they encounter with physician billing.

PDM’s billing software also aids in compliance. Physicians that either Medically Direct or Medically Supervise a nurse anesthetist (CRNA or CRNAs) will appreciate the fact that PDM’s billing software automatically checks their cases for concurrency issues. The system flags potential problems and the physician is contacted to help resolve the conflict.

The bottom line is that PDM’s commitment to compliance runs through every portion of the billing process. Every person that is involved in the billing and collection process has been thoroughly trained and is empowered to stop the billing process until the matter is resolved.

Reports That fit Your Practice's Needs

   
In an environment of lower reimbursement and rising employee costs, timely and meaningful reporting couldn’t be more important. PDM produces a suite of standard reports that provide an instant assessment of your practice. Everything from the practice’s financial condition to the identification of problem payers is included. Standard monthly reports include:

  • Charges, payments and adjustments 
  • Dollars in A/R
  • Aging A/R 
  • Case volume
  • Payer mix
  • Payment punctuality by payer
  • Individual provider productivity 

NOTE: When applicable, the above reports are run for the entire practice, by cost center, by payer and in year-to-date format.

Custom Reports: From time to time, a practice needs very specific and unique information that is not a part of the standard report suite. PDM can quickly produce custom reports utilizing a data-mining program. There is no additional fee for custom reporting. With any PDM reporting, an administrative member is readily available to lend assistance in interpreting and analyzing the data.
